Model Reduction for Finite Element Models
The seminar can be done either in German or in English as well. Its content in English is below. It is also possible to organise such a seminar at your company. Please contact me for details.
For linear dynamic systems new methods allow to start with a high dimensional finite element model and automatically generate a compact model that has much smaller dimension but still preserves dynamic response of the original model quite accurately. Emphasis of the course is on practical applications of model reduction to power electronics, piezoelectric actuators, RF-resonators, and acoustic models, including fluid-structure interactions.
Course plan:
Nowadays finite element modelling enjoys widespread use in engineering. When a static solution is enough, with modern hardware one can obtain quite accurate results for reasonable time. However, when it comes to transient or harmonic response simulation the computational time becomes too long. Especially this concerns the case when the goal is to make joint simulation of a device with driving circuitry. Model reduction allows us to overcome this problem.
The goal of the course is to introduce the new methods and present software MOR for ANSYS that implements them.
